Agent Rotom

Terms of Use

What Agent Rotom is, what you may reuse from it, and what belongs to Nintendo, Pokémon Showdown and the players whose teams it counts.

What this is

Agent Rotom is a free battle companion for Pokémon Champions, at agentrotom.com. It calculates speed thresholds, damage bands and KO odds, and it publishes what other players are actually bringing.

It is operated by Agent Rotom — a personal fan project, built and run by one person in their own time. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK Inc., The Pokémon Company, Smogon University, Pokémon Showdown or championsbattledata.com.

So this page is short: what the site is, what you may take from it, and what it does not promise. What the site stores about you is the other document — the privacy notice — and that one is longer, because there is more to say.

The numbers are estimates

Damage bands, KO probabilities and speed thresholds are computed from published game mechanics. The spreads they are computed against are estimates: no open team sheet in the corpus carries a stat-point field, so every spread the site shows for an opponent is inferred rather than observed.

In doubles, a usage share describes what was brought on a public ladder in a past window; in singles there is no share at all, only a rank read off the game's own in-game ranked screen. Either way they are a description of the past, not a prediction, and they are not advice about what to play.

The site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing here is a guarantee of accuracy, availability or fitness for any purpose.

Using the site

You may use Agent Rotom freely for your own play, study and teaching, including in a stream or a video.

Reuse: who owns what

A site can only licence what it owns, and a single page here layers four rows of material, only one of which the site made. A blanket licence at the bottom of the page would assert a right to grant all four rows. This section is what that licence is replaced by.

Everything in the first row is the site's own work and is the only row these terms can grant you anything in. Rows two to four are named so you know whom to ask.

What you are looking atWhose it is
The analysis: speed tiers, damage bands, KO odds, threat boards, the rolling team rollup, the de-duplication of teams into distinct builds, the ranking and grouping of compositions — and the page copy, the layout and the nine translations.Agent Rotom
The team compositions on the meta board. Recovered from public Pokémon Showdown replays: each is somebody's team, brought in somebody's battle. The players who built them. The replays are Pokémon Showdown's.
The rank and the marginals under it — move, item, ability and nature distributions, the EV allocations, the teammate ordering and the mega stone share — read off Pokémon Champions' own in-game ranked Battle Data screen. The content is the game's, so it belongs with the row below — Nintendo, Creatures Inc., GAME FREAK Inc. / The Pokémon Company. The first row — the analysis, the derived tables, the page copy and the translations — is © Agent Rotom, all rights reserved. You may quote a figure, a table row or a short passage in an article, a video or a post, with a visible credit and a link to the page you took it from.

Republishing a page, or reproducing a substantial part of the dataset, needs written permission. Ask at [email protected].

This reservation covers the first row and nothing else. It asserts no right in the other three.

Rows two to four are not ours to grant, and nothing on this page limits them either. These terms give you no permission to reuse them and take away no permission you already have from their owners.

Where the upstream material came from, so you can go to the source: the rank and the marginals are read from Pokémon Champions' own in-game Battle Data screen, transcribed daily and published at championsbattledata.com, with the raw CSVs at github.com/Gheist23/pokemonbattledata; the usage shares and the team compositions are folded from public replays at replay.pokemonshowdown.com; the artwork is the PokéAPI sprite collection, resized and served from this site's own origin. PokéAPI applies CC0 to that repository while stating that the image contents are copyright The Pokémon Company — and CC0 cannot grant rights its applier does not hold, so the artwork is treated here as The Pokémon Company's.

The damage engine is a fork of @smogon/calc, used under the MIT licence, whose notice ships with the source.

Accounts are optional

Everything the calculator does works signed out, on your device, and that is not going to change. Signing in with Google or Discord does two things: it keeps your own teams in step across your own devices, and it is the identity the supporter tools recognise — connect them to an AI assistant and that assistant can list, save and delete those same teams on your behalf.

You are responsible for the account you sign in with. To close your account and delete the teams stored against it, write to [email protected]; what is kept and for how long is set out in the privacy notice.

Trademarks

Pokémon and Pokémon character names are trademarks of Nintendo, Creatures Inc. and GAME FREAK Inc. Agent Rotom is an unofficial fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Availability and changes

This is a free site, run by one person in their own time. It may change, and it may stop, without notice. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the app stores your teams in your browser, and exporting them is one tap.

These terms may be updated. The date at the top of this page is when the current version took effect, and a material change will be noted here before it applies.
